TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am Ms. Romano and I am in my 8th year of teaching in Bronx, NY. The Bronx has the highest percentage of students with IEPs including many families that come from a low income household.I have worked with Middle School and High School students that have IEPs, are SIFE, are ELLs, and have other needs. I love to see them achieve and reach their goals through modified or differentiated materials. I love to teach and I hope my materials help other educators see more smiles :)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am extremely organized and structured. My students know what they should be doing at specific moments of a lesson and they know I set high expectations for them. It is important for me to include hands-on activities, visual aids, technology, or any other interactive materials into my lesson in order to reach all students.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Almost all teachers get asked the same question: Why did you become an educator? It's difficult to come up with a creative response that has not already been stated before. However, I will try my best. I became an educator to provide a voice for children that may not have one. I became an educator to change how children view the world they live in, which is usually dark and gloomy based on their experiences (foster care, homelessness, poverty, etc.).
