I started teaching, from a cart, in 2012. Sometimes teaching auditoriums full of students. I've since upgraded to a classroom with walls. I've taught a variety of subjects, but I have a heart for English Language Arts. It's such a great medium for connecting with students, bringing learning alive by relating it to their lives, and teaching them life skills they'll take with them beyond a standards-based test.
Organized chaos is my teaching style. My students help me to overcome my type A tendencies as we step outside our comfort zones and learn together. I like to make lessons as interactive as possible to keep it engaging for us all. I like to use technology when I can, but try to keep it simple to save my sanity.
In the 2016-2017 school year, I was recognized as a high-impact teacher meaning my students, whether struggling or already high-achieving, made significant growth on state tests.
I majored in English Education at Florida State University and minored in Family and Child Sciences.
My students put it best: "You're strict, but funny, and we get stuff done!"
