I have been lucky enough to travel the globe and teach everywhere from cities to small communities. I have taught in both Canada and the U.K. I currently worked in England as a primary and secondary teacher (science) for three years. I have taught everything from English, math, Geography, social studies and Art. But, science will always hold a special place in my heart. From a small town in Canada called The Pas, Manitoba with a lovely group of grade 2 students, to being lucky enough to begin my career teaching grade 5 for two years in a Fly-in First Nations Reserve. Before I became a school teacher I also worked with Science North (science center in Ontario, Canada). Additionally, I worked for 6 years as a naturalist. In university I home schooled students from Kindergarten to grade 10. I have further specialist training in ELL programs from my university.
While teaching I love to do hands-on projects and experiments to get the students engaged. I have rarely used a textbook during my years of teaching...except maybe to look at a diagram! This is because my students would have never had their needs met by a textbook. I also have maintain a focus on outdoor education with my students.
