I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and am currently a fourth grade math teacher at Dewar Elementary in Valdosta, Georgia. I have served as an advocate for elementary education for more than ten years. Throughout my teaching career, I have served in several leadership capacities such as Literacy Team Leader, coordinator for Community Partners in Education, PTO President, Historian sponsor for Student Council, and a member of the PBIS team. In each of these roles I have been able to show my genuine love for what I do- teach children!
I would say I am a teacher who tries to set the stage to engage every day! I love room transformations. I also love giving kids the opportunity to be up and moving and involved in their learning process through engaging openers and collaborative pairings.

Watkins received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Valdosta State University in 2004 and a Master’s of Science in Educational Foundations from Troy State University in 2008.
I grew up in the small town of Douglas, Georgia. From a very early age my parents knew that I had the ability to engage and connect with people of all ages and from all walks of life. My smile and bubbly enthusiasm for life drew people to me and made them feel at ease. This ability to connect with people was especially evident in the presence of children. My parents felt that my passion for others would somehow direct my path. That it did.
