TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teach History BETTER is a team effort between two teacher historians. Between the two of us, we have... ✏ 42 years of teaching experience ✏ extensive curriculum experience ✏ 20 years of AP U.S. History teaching experience ✏ 3 years of curriculum coordinator experience.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Despite our number of years, we are always looking for a better approach. In 2016, we were introduced to the BETTER model for lesson planning and it has enhanced how we teach. WE find our lessons are better planned, more intentional, and engage all students. The BETTER model allows for all components of a highly effective lesson. It includes direct instruction, opportunities for group work, evaluation, and reflection.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Between the two of us, we have earned... * 2012 Rhode Island History Teacher of the Year * 2019 Rhode Island History Teacher of the Year * 1st runner-up for Rhode Island Teacher of the Year 2019

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Lisa attended Providence College and has her Master's degree in History. Shori attended the University of Rhode Island and has her Bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education. She received her National Board Certification in 2017.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
