Salem Witch Trials - Card Game Simulation
This card game is a low-prep activity ready for your classroom! This Salem Witch Trial Game is meant to be a simulation for students to understand the hysteria and paranoia during a witch hunt. The objective of the game is to “execute” any witches present among the group. But there is always a twist...Like the Salem Witch Trials, there are no witches! This is an excellent activity to accompany a lesson about the Salem Witch Trials or Arthur Miller's "The Crucible."
Includes:
- Detailed written directions for game set up and game play
- Double sided Role Cards
- Evidence Cards - used to accuse others
- Defense Cards - used to defend against accusations
Here’s how this activity works:
T - Try it Out - Salem Witch Trials Simulation Card Game
The students form a circle. Each student receives a role card. The class has 15-20 minutes to find and "execute" any witches present among their classmates. Students take turns using Action Cards to make accusations of other students in the room. If a student is accused, they can use a defense card to clear themselves of that accusation. If a student does not have any defense, they are "executed" and forced to reveal if they are a witch or not.
The activity uses actual evidence and defenses given during the Salem Witch Trials.
