TEACHING EXPERIENCE

16 years of classroom experience teaching STEM, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use Problem-Based Learning, Hands-on Projects, and Real World Applications to get my students to see the connection between what they're doing in the classroom and how it effects the world around them.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In the eCYBERMISSION Science Fair Contest we entered this year, student teams from my classes won the following: 1st place in the state for 6th grade, 1st place in the state for 7th grade, 2nd place in the state for 7th grade.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I hold teaching certificates with the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Ski Instructors of America, and was named one of the Top 100 Ski Instructors in America by Ski Magazine. I have also received the Golden Gator Award for Excellence in Teaching, and was a nominee for Disney's American Teacher Awards. Over the past 30 years, I have taught Science, Computers, PE, Tennis, Skiing, Snowboarding, Rocketry and Robotics to middle school students. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering for and serving on the board of a non-profit organization which teaches leadership, conflict resolution, communication and problem solving to youth and adults.
