Special Ed for Everyone

I have worked as an ESL teacher with a focus on Language Arts (elementary/pre-school) and Literature (middle school/high school). I have also provided support in different subject areas for all grade levels, done in-class support, and co-taught classes. I currently work one on one with an elementary student as an inclusive assistant. As a Special Education teacher, I teach a little bit of everything and anything each year, and so my store reflects that. I always have to use new materials, read new books, change my teaching style, and more...and I love it!

My classroom is a space where mistakes are expected and welcomed, and where a strong sense of community allows my students to grow and have deep learning experiences. My teaching experience allows me to work with a variety of students. I believe in differentiated instruction for each student, whether they have special needs or not. I believe that each and every student benefits from different teaching styles so activities in my classroom are always varied. I believe that a strong connection with students leads to better learning. When each student feels important and cared for, they have better relationships and better learning opportunities. I have a strong rapport with each of my students, and I believe this is a very important piece of education. I strive to implement technology in my classroom because I believe that our modern society demands that students have technological skills to succeed. I believe in working with a curriculum and set standards, but also in implementing lessons and activities that prepare students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers.
