TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After years as a professional research astronomer, I switched to science and interdisciplinary education 9 years ago. I've taught at all levels from elementary children through college and graduate school in areas as diverse as science, art and soccer. I love helping students find connections between subjects to see how all knowledge is interrelated. I also lead teacher professional development. I develop and write high-quality curriculum with an emphasis on hands-on activities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is very interactive and I encourage hands-on learning in all subjects.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I wrote successful grant to USDA to start a Farm to School program at a local school district in California. I am working in two California school districts to incorporate nutrition and wellness concepts in "core" areas like math, ELA, science, social studies and art to help teachers improve students' wellness education while also learning CCSS and NGSS concepts in core areas.
