TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. I have taught 15 years in the elementary school and am currently an 8th grade language arts teacher. I have served as a literacy coach and lead mentor for my district. I have a masters degree in Reading and Literacy and an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development. I have presented at a number of conferences and led and planned various professional development in-services for my own district and others in my area.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a socratic classroom where discussion and inquiry is the basis of our lessons. Writing is focus in my classroom and students are encouraged to read and share their reading during the day and through our own #twmsreads twitter chats

I have been teaching for 19 years in the same district where I attended school from kindergarten through 12th grade. I have an amazing husband and three wonderful sons. Our family is very musical and performs in various community bands and our church. I love my job and all the students. They teach me as much as I can possibly teach them. I have been blessed to be given the opportunity to teach and be blessed by each of my students and colleagues.
