Owlet Learning

I have been teaching for 20 years in the UK, both in the state and private sector. Much of my teaching was in Early Years (which is pre Kindergarten) but I have taught children aged 3+ to 11 years, so up to year 6 (Grade 5). With older children the main subject areas I covered was teaching modern foreign languages and religious studies.

I try and make learning fun so that children are engaged in what they are doing. I design games which relate to particular learning objectives so that children are eager to play and learn and you will see that most of my resources are based around games with specific aims. I have found the best outcomes are when I know what fascinates a child, or a group of children, and adapt the curriculum to fit this. Especially child initiated learning activities are so valuable as I can see what students have chosen to do/play and increase their knowledge and understanding by targeting their chosen interests specifically to extend their learning in other aspects. This also works with older children and I try and incorporate fun games whenever possible. Although I am based in the U.K. my resources have been designed for both American and British teachers.

I started teaching nursery (pre-kindergarten) children for a number of years when I was asked to cover classes throughout primary school up to Year 6 (Grade 5). I have taught all these years and curriculum areas during my career and most teachers asked me to teach English, Maths, Religious Education, P.E. German and French.
