Description
What is the time in German? These popular games will help students with learning about Zeit. These fun speaking, listening reading and matching games can be played in pairs & small groups to practice German time vocabulary. Loop Games, Memory, Dominoes, Pairs & Snap are always engaging for using new vocabulary and the fun games will help your students work out how to say different times and recognize these as they read them. The worksheets will encourage a quiet, independent reading and writing task.
Learning together with others and discussing time vocabulary in games is something that I have found works well when I have taught another world language. Differentiation - the games use easier (o'clock) and more challenging times so are great to cater to different abilities and groups.
The games are ideal for independent groups or adult-supported groups and are a great way for you to find out how confident students are to recognize and work out German time vocabulary and discuss any misconceptions. They are great for Back to School activities too to encourage German after a holiday when remembering and using vocabulary may be a bit tricky!
If you have a languages resources center then the games are ideal to organize so that students can access them independently for example if they have finished their set work i.e. early finishers. Clip different games together and ask students to time themselves to complete the games and make a note of how long this took them. Others can do the same and see who is the fastest making this a competition - this encourages speed and perseverance.
