Back-to-school sales make me happy! I love everything about teaching and being in a classroom. I started volunteering in a 1st/2nd-grade combo classroom when I was 17 and have never been able to leave the education scene since. I've taught, substituted, aided, or volunteered in every grade from daycare to 11th.
I love taking a hands-on approach with my guinea-pigs. Interactive notebooks, STEM activities, art projects, and physical movements correlating with knowledge are important to any age-group. Using a variety of media to introduce content and having students utilize and practice it through different methods means they are more likely to retain it. In my classroom, lesson plans are the map, but students are the captain.
