Directions and how-to-use:

This project should be completed over the course of 4 weeks with the rubric to guide students towards achieving cross-curricular criteria and demonstrate mastery of content standards: RI 6.1- 6.9; W 6.2a.-f.; W6.4-6.9; SL 6.4-6.6; L6.1-6.6; RH6-8.1-8.2, RH 6-8.4; RH6-8.7-8.9; WHST.6-8.2-8.10


Week one- students will identify the person of interest for their essay assignment based on a list of available book options in class or appropriate options to research and request library books for. We will review the rubric for the project and students will begin their reading and research.

Week two- Students will continue research, complete a Venn-diagram, and must turn in a hook and thesis statement as a progress checkpoint.

Week three- Students should have completed their research, reading, and will submit rough drafts for body paragraphs.

Week four- Students will work with peers to edit and revise before submitting final drafts.
