Miss Crane's Little Literacy Shop

Currently, I am teaching Spanish and writing curriculum for an independent text book company called Edu-zone. I develop text books for k-8 curriculum. I worked for two years as a literacy coach and trainer at the DREAM Project in the Dominican Republic, working with teachers to improve their effectiveness in the classroom, sharing strategies, and writing curriculum in English and Spanish. I am also developing interactive iBooks for Apple's iZone educational department. I was also the Director of Education at Resource Area for Teachers, where I planned and taught professional development for teachers and and administrators throughout the state of Colorado and at national conventions. For six years, I taught 3rd and 4th grade in various schools in Denver including an International Baccalaureate school, developing resources and writing curriculum throughout that time. I was a teacher leader in the area of writing and helped train colleagues with our school-wide writing program. I have also taught ESL in both Japan and the Dominican Republic, where I was the lead developer of the ESL interactive curriculum for a fabulous training program for youth that teaches English as a resource to help students find jobs.

As a trainer, I am very attentive to the needs of my teachers, and develop curriculum and professional development customized to their needs. My focus is on presenting them with material that makes their lives easier and enriches the educational experiences of their students. I enjoy designing dynamic lessons and resources that incorporate literacy, critical thinking and 21st century skills. My lessons are not very flashy, but they are rich in content and make students think.
