TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a wife and mommy and now a full time care-giver for my own little boy (born 12-5-14) and another little guy (born 12-24-14). I was formerly a fifth grade language arts and social studies teacher in a small suburban district in the Greater Columbus (Ohio) area. I taught literacy for three years under the Common Core State Standards and the Ohio's New Learning Standards for social studies. Prior to that I taught a 7th grade reading intervention class under the Ohio Content Standards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have always taught using mastery and standards based assessment practices. All of the materials I created were drafted to fit within the Understanding By Design model and wove together the assessment of learning and assessment for learning. My 5th grade language arts and social studies class was taught in a daily "block" during which time students were taught social studies standards in an integrated fashion within the Literacy Collaborative framework.
