My degree is in English and started my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught ELA for 12 years and loving every minute of it!! Over the years, I'm lucky to have taught ESE inclusion, standard, advanced and gifted students. I've also taught drama for the last 12 years and for a twist, I've taught an Intro Conversational Spanish for the last year as well! It's a little crazy at times! I love my junior high kids; they still enjoy a good story and don't believe they have all the answers. I'm always looking for new and different ways to keep my kids engaged and interested. Three years ago, I was chosen as one of the teachers in my school to implement One-to-One Google Chromebooks in my classroom. Now our entire school is working in the one-to-one world! As a Google Certified teacher, I love teaching and learning in my digital classroom! The greatest compliment a student can give me is to look at the clock at the end of 50 minutes and say, "Wow! That went by fast!" Learning with great conversations while having fun is a great way to spend the day!!
We all need to struggle a little every day to learn, no matter our age. If we aren't learning something new every day as teachers, how can we ask our students to do the same?
Nominated and selected as Teacher of the Year several times. This year I was recognized as one of the top ELA or Math teachers in our county.
I attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC where I earned my BA in English and Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter, Florida to attain my teaching credentials. Currently attending the American College of Education for my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Secondary Education.
I love spending time with my 3 girls, shopping, reading, traveling and attending the theater and concerts.
