Before I started full time teaching, I was a migrant educator through a grant from SUNY. I worked with students who were sons and daughters of migrant workers. These students did not have much support due to moving schools many times. I worked with them getting settled in the schools, tutoring them, and helping with other tasks such as getting glasses if needed etc. I have taught a multiage class of 4th and 5th graders. I have also taught 4th grade for 19 years.
I believe in student driven learning. I believe that the students must drive the instruction, taking that responsibility for their learning. I view my role as their guide in their learning.
