Hi, I am Paula, I have been teaching for more than 15 years foreign languages, particularly Italian. I was actually born in Italy and moved to Perth, Australia around 14 years ago. In Italy I was teaching English to Italian students. Once in Australia, I had almost immediately a permanent position as a teacher of Italian in a private school. I have been teaching in the government and private sector, in Primary (or Elementary as you call them in the USA) and in Secondary schools. Since school keeps me busy, I am gradually passing my after-school tutoring business to my daughter who has become a perfect bilingual :-)
If you are a language teacher you probably know how important is to expose students to a variety of teaching/learning styles to accommodate their multiple intelligences. In my one-hour lessons I make sure to include a variety of activities targeted to my particular audience which spreads from Pre-Primary up to year 6. My style varies: Listening, Speaking through role-plays, audio-visual stimulation, karaoke, hands-on projects, Smartboard, Ipads interactive tasks, language games beside other fun printed activities that can entice and motivate further interest in the subject.
