TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Certified Teacher for grades 1-9 with experience in grades 6-8 English/Language Arts and grades 1-2 all subjects. Current homeschool teacher to her 6 children in grades PK, K, 2,3,6, and 8; current reading intervention tutor. Seasoned Sunday School and VBS teacher/director and published curriculum writer.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to use the theory of Multiple Intelligences as much as possible when designing my lessons to help teach concepts to different children with varying learning styles. I also believe in the power of Discovery Learning and in the value of group work as means for nurturing natural learning, confidence, and success. Communicating clear expectations and modeling desired behavior and work outcomes are also essential components to a healthy learning environment!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a homeschooling teacher/mother of 6 fabulous children ages 1 1/2 - 13! I also write curriculum and am in the process of trying to get my first children's book published. Additionally, I am a reading intervention tutor for elementary students in a central city school district. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, geocaching, swimming, writing, directing handbells, participating church activities, and spending time with my wonderful family!
