5 years of teaching high school choir, 8 years as an elementary music teacher, two years as a teacher on special assignment (TOSA) acting as a vice-principal, and now 2 years as a Growth Mindset specialist in an Elementary school. I have also served on our district respect committee for the last 8 years which is where I got my Growth Mindset start :0)
I am working toward having a student led classroom, though seeing the students only once a week is making this process a bit slow. I have high expectations for behavior and hard work and remind the students often. Self-reflection is a large part of what we do.
I was awarded the honor of the teacher of the year at our school in 2012.
I have an AA from Edmonds Community College, a BA of Music in Music Education from Central Washington University, and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Seattle Pacific University
I am a mother of 4, a wife, a hard-core crafter, and a dedicated lifelong learner. I have started a Facebook page all about teaching a Growth Mindset as well as developing one for yourself. I have even starting posting some videos about teaching growth mindset. Please check it out here :0) https://www.facebook.com/GrowthMindsetinAction/
