What educators are saying

I love all three of these texts. This resource was useful at the beginning of the year when we were developing our identity as a class. I believe that it helped my students to understand that they didn't need to be perfect to be perfectly fine.

Description

When you are teaching students about growth mindset, I believe it is vital to use stories they can relate to. If they are seeing other characters showing both a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, they will be more likely to understand what each look like.

This is a packet of Growth Mindset lessons which use the three books from Peter H. Reynolds collectively called the Creatrilogy. You will need to purchase these books or be able to borrow them to teach these lessons. Each book has wonderful growth mindset lessons and concepts we can explore with children from kindergarten on up.

For each book I provide; stopping/discussion points for you to use while you are reading the book aloud to the class, follow up discussion questions for partner shares, small group, or whole group discussions, and two worksheets. I usually use one worksheet with K-1 students and the other with 2-5 students, but the K-1 could be used with K-5 if desired.

In The Dot, we learn about how a growth mindset can be helped along by people who inspire others to learn with them.

In Ish we learn about how when we have a growth mindset we understand that learning is a process and perfection is rarely achieved. We learn about having a growth mindset that sets us up to view attempts as learning opportunities.

Finally in sky color we learn that if we have a growth mindset we can be creative in finding solutions to problems. Our growth mindset allows us to make things work even when we don't think we have the right supplies (or even ability).

These books are amazing and accessible for children and foster deep conversations about growth mindset.
