TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Welcome! I'm a Health & Wellness teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, currently teaching grades 6-9. I'm in my fourth year with Health, but before that I taught high school English for eight years, and my TPT store is just now catching up with my career change! Please stay tuned as I begin uploading some exciting new Health materials.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Discussion-centered, open, mindful, honest, realistic, curious, and enthusiastic

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Simon McNeely Award from the Society of Health and Physical Educators of Maryland (2023), Loyola Literacy Educator of the Year Award (2019), Baltimore City Public Schools CEO's Teacher Advisory Council (2018-2021), Baltimore City Model Teacher (since 2018)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

University of Miami, Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Studio Art, May 2012. Baltimore City Teaching Residency, Resident Teacher, 2012-2014. Additional Praxis certification in Health, 2021.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in Baltimore City with my husband and two terrible cats. I'm on the Board of an amazing Baltimore non-profit called A Workshop of Our Own (look us up!). I am also a practicing artist, working mostly in fiber arts and mixed media. When I'm not encouraging middle schoolers about their bodies and minds, I'm probably reading, doing yoga, messing with my houseplants, or playing video games.
