TEACHING EXPERIENCE

15 years experience teaching earth science and earth science gt.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Application based student driven instruction. Prefer to make labs incorporating real data to reveal concepts and to correct misconceptions.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My desk is littered with rocks from students from their travels from every corner of earth... For them to think about what they learned in my class while they are on the vacation of a life time tells me I must be doing something right. They mean more than any paper award I have ever gotten.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Undergraduate in geography and environmental systems from UMBC with a concentration in cartography certificate. Masters in STEM Secondary Education from UMBC.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love what i do and challenge myself to provide rigorous investigations in the earth sciences to prepare students for higher education. Earth science is as much a passionate hobby as it is an occupation. I shy from fru fru memorization activities and stress a students ability to explain phenomenon through data collection and application. In my spare time i enjoy lapidary en devours and recently have started carving fire agate. I collect fossils and enjoy the outdoors.
