Earth Layers Model: Decoding Compositional and Mechanical/Structural layers

Students will complete a colored model of earths layers that will clarify the main differences of compositional and mechanical layers both visually as well as conceptually. They will also be able to identify trends of temperature, gravity, pressure, and density. This is a great activity that will allow students to better comprehend the dynamics of plate tectonics. This could also serve as a earth science practical type of assessment.
