I have been teaching Language Arts for 30 years. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught at the middle school and high school levels. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. I also taught seventh grade Math and Pre-Algebra for five years. I love being a teacher!
I believe it is very important to make learning feel easy. Students will respond better to situations where they think they can be successful. I make sure I scaffold all of my assignments. I also provide lots of examples and a model of the final product. It is very important to break down lessons and assignments into smaller parts. When students approach an assignment, especially a writing assignment, in parts, it feels more manageable to them.
I have been in many roles over the years. Some of these are Literacy Lead, Team Lead, and Department Chair. I also served on our district Writing Committee. I have held writing workshops to help teachers in our school district.
I earned both my Bachelor's degree and Master's degree at Virginia Tech. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
