I taught kindergarten and 1st grade for several years in the public school system. Then I changed over to art and have been teaching art for 20 years. I've also been a Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and a Keepers of the Faith leader. No matter what position I took, art always became a part of it. Children are naturally creative and art is a exciting avenue to learning almost anything. I am blessed to have been able to share art with so many children.
I believe that a bit of art can enhance other subjects whether it's reading, writing, math, science or social studies. Because art causes us to engage with our hands and our imagination; topics become more memorable, interesting and fun. If learning is fun, then learning continues, and isn't that the ultimate goal?!
I don't have a shelf of trophies, but I have been blessed to teach hundreds of children. When they tell me that I've made a positive difference in their life; well, nothing could be sweeter! Investing in children is never a waste of time and is it's own reward.
I have B.S. in Early Childhood Education. Since, I have taken several Art courses in drawing, painting and various crafts. I'm constantly learning about new ways to be creative around the house and yard.
