I have been teaching since 2010, and have spent all but one of those years in first grade. Prior to moving down to first grade, I taught fifth grade for one wonderful year. While I loved fifth grade, my passion truly lies with early elementary students and the curriculum. Prior to becoming a classroom teacher, I was a Title I/Literacy Support instructor for a year. In that position I worked with at-risk readers and writers in small groups to provide literacy interventions and additional support. It was a life-changing position for me and helped me recognize my passion for teaching young children how to read and write!
I have high expectations for my students, while at the same time still ensuring that school is fun for them! I provide many opportunities for my students to explore and explain their thinking with others. With every year of experience I learn something new about who am I as a teacher and how I want to run my classroom. Just like the students, I am always learning!
No major honors or awards (yet!).
In 2007 I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in reading and math. In 2014 I earned my Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching with a concentration in reading and literacy.
I have always been interested in graphic design and often think that if I didn't become a teacher, I would have loved to be a graphic designer! Thankfully, creating resources for my TpT store allows me to be a little of both! I absolutely love to create teaching resources but it takes me A LONG time to do so because I am such a perfectionist! I pour my heart into every resource I create and nitpick over the tiniest of details, hence my store name, A Pinch of Perfection!
