Description
Improve your students' reading comprehension and lay the foundation for close reading and annotation with this EDITABLE Active Reading Strategies GOOGLE SLIDES presentation and activity. Guide your students through the 7 active reading strategies with this NO PREP presentation, which includes modeled examples, practice activities, a graphic organizer for note-taking, and a final reflection to review and close out the lesson.
What's the Activity?
The presentation includes a "main slide" with key details and guiding questions for each strategy. Teachers can guide students through the modeled examples of the strategy in action and students can use the graphic organizer to take notes and to record their practice with each strategy. At the end of the lesson, students reflect on what they've learned about active reading.
**Interested in learning stations? Use this resource to set up "active reading stations" around your room. The class reads the same text, but each group applies a different reading strategy based on the station they're currently at. This makes a great activity for helping students engage more deeply with a poem, short story, article, or chapter.

If you prefer to use a presentation that does not require an accompanying text or if your students need additional practice, you can find another version of this presentation using excerpts from To Kill a Mockingbird.
