Description
Improve your students' reading comprehension and literacy skills while laying the foundation for close reading and annotation with this Active Reading Strategies Bundle! Use the seven, research-based active reading strategies to teach your students how to engage with the text as an active reader.
This GROWING bundle of resources requires no prep and covers 7 key active reading strategies: review, predict, visualize, question, connect, infer, and condense.
What is included in this resource?
Active Reading Strategies Presentation: (Version 1: Modeled Examples from To Kill a Mockingbird). Includes an overview of Active Reading Strategies AND key details, a modeled example, and a practice opportunity for EACH of the 7 active reading strategies included. The presentation includes a GRAPHIC ORGANIZER for note-taking and a reflection for wrapping up the lesson. Please note: Students do not need access to To Kill a Mockingbird - the excerpts are clear even if students have never read the text.
Active Reading Strategies Presentation: (Version 2: Modeled Examples from The Good Egg). This presentation follows a similar format to version 1 and includes the same components (such as key details, examples, practice, GRAPHIC ORGANIZER and reflection), however examples are based on The Good Egg instead of To Kill a Mockingbird. Please note: Teachers will need access to The Good Egg in order to use these activities, however, this book can generally be found on YouTube as a Read Aloud.
***Using both presentations with your class will not be repetitive and provides opportunities to review, practice, and deepen the understanding and use of the active reading strategies.
Active Reading Strategies Student Guide: A Print and Go handout students can keep in their binders for easy reference. The handout lists all 7 strategies with details and guiding questions for each strategy.
Active Reading Strategies Differentiated Bookmarks: Includes one bookmark fpr each of the 7 strategies. Each bookmark provides details and guiding questions for one strategy, so students (or the teacher) can choose a single strategy to practice.
What is a Growing Bundle?
A growing bundle means I am still adding resources to this bundle. You pay for the current resources and get access to any new resources I add for FREE! Each time I add a new resource to the bundle, I will notify all buyers (and raise the price for any new buyers in order to reflect the new value of the bundle). This is the lowest price this bundle will be offered for, so the sooner you buy the more you save!
