Students receive a card with a either a coordinate point or linear equation on it. Then, music is played and students walk around the room as they would in musical chairs, but when the music stops, they have to pair up with another person (a coordinate point person pairs with a linear equation person and vice versa). Students each brought in a box of their choice, rectangular prism or cube. Then I placed a sticker on one side. The students then had to draw the face of the box where I placed the sticker and label it with both length and width. The students then calculated the face's perimeter and area and then the volume of the full box. Students really enjoyed this assignment.
