If we re-think MTSS---using metaphors. Instead of a ladder, I suggest we think of if as an Orange Grove. Welcoming Children with Selective Mutism into your Classroom

Approximately 1 in 140 children have Selective Mutism, a manifestation of anxiety in which children are able to speak at home or in settings they consider most comfortable, but are unable to speak in other places where speaking is expected (i.e. school, playdates, etc.).
