Trigonometry Graph Project

This project involves graphing multiple trigonometry function on one set of axes. They have to graph a certain number of equations and have to use at least 3 different types out of the 6. For this they have the option to use sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cotanget, and cosecant. They also have to use multiple values that transform the parent function. We use a computer program (desmos) for the graphing. They need to find the features of each graph and write them out. The part that the stud

Algebra 2 / Pre - Calculus Spaghetti Noodle Sine Curves

Students will use what they’ve learned about sinusoidal functions to create a sine curve out of uncooked spaghetti noodles and string. They will come up with an equation of a sine function with a period other than , a horizontal shift, and a vertical shift. They will graph at least one period for their sine curve. The graph will include at least 13 plotted points. This is a fun, engaging, and different way for students to share their knowledge of graphing sine functions. A scoring rubric is in

This 10 question assessment will allow you to identify what your students do and do not know about sets, set notation, and set builder notation. Use this assessment as a quiz, a mini assessment, or a test to see if students can answer the essential question: What is a set and what is set builder notation? The assessment is broken down into 4 learning targets so you and your students can know the purpose of why the questions are being asked and what you as the teacher will be looking for when you

Pre-AP Free Response Problems (AP-Style): Linear/Quadratic/Polynomial

Set of 3 Free Response Problems for Algebra II or Precalculus. Modeled after AP Calculus problems with regard to style, rigor, and grading scale. #1 assesses polynomial functions, #2 assesses quadratic functions (in real-world context), and #3 assesses rate of change (slope) and understanding of function notation. Scoring rubrics included. If using as assessment, each question should take about 15 minutes (45 minutes total)

Functions and Graphs Learning Framework | 41 levels | self-paced work plan

This Functions and Graphs Level-up learning framework includes 41 levels and is geared towards helping students learn to deal with more and more advanced problems. The framework includes 213 unique links to support students when they cannot complete the problems in a given level. There are then also links to sources which have relevant problems to ensure that students have a strong grasp on the relevant level of functions and graphs. There is also supportive images included to explain some of th

Sometimes kids in AP Calculus take longer to learn a concept and need a second chance. This extra credit opportunity provides a rubric for students to create their own Free-Response Question. Students learn better when they apply their knowledge (even if incomplete) to creating and solving their own problems. As they say, teaching is the best way to learn. Students find this extra credit opportunity enjoyable and challenging. Furthermore, it allows the teacher to use the student-generated FR

Math Research Paper Rubric

Included: Math Research Paper Rubric (docx) One of the classes I teach is Pre-Calculus Research. Each year my students must complete an original research paper and some go on to complete at a regional Math Fair competition. In order to best meet the needs of my students, I created a rubric for these reserach papers

This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure. Great for remote learning and asynchronous project assignment. Hyperli
