One of the single most important skills I can teach my students is how to have a genuine academic conversation in which everyone listens to one another and engages fully with each other. This is the rubric that I use to assess a conversation that students participate in. It's applicable to just about any topic and while it's set up for proficiency grading like I use, it's a googledoc so you can easily change it to points or letter grades.

Students sign up for a genre of interest, like Anime, and each week one person is charged with selecting a text, generating discussion questions, and sending them out to group members prior to the meeting date. Speaking and presenting in an English classroom are essential skills that need to be practiced and assessed regularly. Here is my rubric that I use to assess students' presentations for my high school ELA classes. I use proficiency marks, not letter grades, but it's a google file, so you can easily edit to your own needs. It's pretty easy to use during the presentation and also allows me to give them feedback as an audience member as well. Let me know what you think.
