Using Narrative Poetry Writing About Reading Bend One Session One
This is a supplemental mini lesson for Writing About Reading, Bend One Session One. It does not use "The Stolen Party." Instead, I use "Wings" by MacLemore and "Victory" by Sherman Alexie to take the lesson to a higher level. Students are able to compare and contrast and and are also able to experience some poetry in the process rather than a short story.
