American Indian homes, also known as dwellings, varied greatly from tribe to tribe, depending on their location and resources available. They ranged from the Longhouses of the Iroquois in the Northeast, wigwams of the Algonquin, to the Pueblo homes in the Southwest, which were made from adobe and had multiple stories. Plains Indians, such as the Sioux, often lived in tepees, temporary cone-shaped tents covered in buffalo hides, which were easy to set up and take down for their nomadic lifestyle.
