The Five Senses Hearing
A SmartBoard file which explores how we hear, the anatomy of the ear, different things we hear with our ears, as well as ear safety tips. Good to use with K-3. Using this file an instructor can conduct a full lesson of about one hour, if coupled with some sort of reading time using a book about the sense of hearing.

At a young age students need to know about their five senses as part of self awareness. This whiteboard activity gives them an opportunity to discover how the outside world effects their senses. Sorting Number of Animal/Insect Legs!
Students will be able to come up to the board and drag the animal to the correct column for the number of legs it has. This is compatible with a SMART board product. This goes with science- when talking about what animal body parts help for the animal to survive. Also, literacy when reading about different animals.

The Human Body for Young Students
This is a Smart board activity to introduce the human body to the young student. It will show the inside workings of the body from muscles to how some organs work in relation to things around us.
Example the heart is a pump etc.. There are worksheets that can be printed out to reinforce information. The panels can also be used to asses the students progress. Please note this is an updated lesson plan.3/25/2015

The Five Senses Smell
This Smartboard file describes the anatomy of our nose, how we smell, different things we can smell, and can also be used in conjunction with a book about the sense of smell. At the end of the lesson a smell game can be played where students smell different cotton balls that have been "treated" with different smells ex.(roses, honey, orange, etc).

5 Senses- Mr. Potato Head
This Smart Board lesson is geared towards teaching young children about their five senses. It uses Mr. Potato Head to help them understand.
You can dress up the potato with all different pieces. This will ehlp students understand as you describe what we use these for.
Can be enhanced by giving hands on demonstrations, such as using your nose to smell.

This Data wall was created out of a need to track our student's progress throughout the school year. I found the easiest way to do this was via a SmartBoard file so that I can easily access it from any SmartBoard/Computer combination in the school. Baby animals sometimes look like their parents
This smart notebook lesson is a great introduction to the concept that some animals look like their parents and others do not. I has pictures of adult and baby animals, some look like their parents and others do not. Each slide asks the question "alike or different" to spark a class conversation or group discussion about how the animals are alike and how they are different.
