Students will halve and double a chocolate chip recipe. I used this as an extra credit activity, but this would be great to use for a substitute or homework practice as well.

The Masterchef Fractions task is an individual or group assessment task that requires Year 7 students to create an original recipe that uses fractions. It meets (ACMNA152) (ACMNA153) (ACMNA154) ACARA standards in Australia. This is a multi-day project that is perfect for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math-Real world project involving recipes from research or from home-Parent letter included to help bring in recipes-Editable Google Document to customize teacher name, date, expectations-Template included with directions for students to type in (can be uploaded to Google Classroom)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Fractions
This resource was created to use as a fun way for students to practice operations with fractions in a real-world scenario. This activity encourages peer collaboration as students work together to create a final product. Students will also practice reading comprehension as they are required to read and follow baking directions.
