My class used these informational slides to learn about three important Native American groups. We also practiced the reading strategy of determining importance by finding the most important information and underlining it for our notes. Students then took notes on the related graphic organizer (only using the most important words that we underlined together). This smart notebook takes you through supporting questions 2 and 3 of the NY State 4th grade geographical inquiry project. The whole project is included in the second slide. The essential question of the project is-- Does where we live matter? It has the resources from the state on the slides as well as attached. At one point students can use candy for land formations as a way to identify locations of key geographical formations.
