This project is designed to teach students about the different classifications (metals, metalloids, and nonmetals) and families of the Periodic Table (alkali, alkaline earth, transition, halogen, and noble gas). Students will need a couple days to research the various groups and then time to write up their "journal entries". I generally have done this with 8th graders, but it could easily be adapted and used with other grades! I have included a very general rubric that you can adjust as needed!
