This fun project is something I do at the end of the school year. After doing a Mystery Genre study, I culminate with this Nursery Rhyme Mystery.
The gist: Students choose a nursery rhyme and write a mystery that fills in the holes, since most nursery rhymes leave some questions unanswered. It blends narrative writing with literature standards and ends with a final story your students will be begging to share.
