A Bake Sale: Project-Based Learning Combining Fractions, Area and Charity
I created this project for my GATE third graders. It review some basic operational math standards and requires application of both fraction and area/dimension skills. The project is divided into three parts with the intent that students can be at different parts simultaneously. The background for the project is that students are holding a bake sale to raise money for a charity. They go through the process of choosing recipes, determining how many batches to make, finding equivalent fractions
