Americanah is one of my favorite novels, both to read and to teach; however when I first started teaching it four years ago, there were not many resources available, so I had to make pretty much everything I needed from scratch, and the result is this bundle. Lesson Plan & PPT Package Explaining Hero vs Villain Protagonist vs Antagonist
This is a two-part package -- a Power Point presentation and a lesson plan. The PPT is available separately by the same name.
This 14-slide Power Point presentation presents hero, villain, protagonist, and antagonist. It explains the shift from using the terms "hero" and "villain" to the more contemporary "protagonist" and "antagonist." The presentation also uses Greek and early English root words to explain how the terms "protagonist" and "antagonist" evolved.

Research is essential in the Common Core Standards and that skill and its corresponding reporting out is a necessary skill for the 21st century workforce.
Nancy Polette provides 25 ways to report on inventions (i.e. The Poetry Chant, Whose Tale is True, Mystery Report, Acrostic Report, Limericks, plus 20 more!). She then gives an example using an invention. Blank patterns are included for students to create their own reports.
