The Homework Helper sheet goes step by step on how to convert a fraction to a decimal. Sometimes the numbers are easy to work with especially if they are factors of 10, 100, 1000,.... Other times the student needs to use division. Hopefully the process I have written is easy to understand.

I have often found that my students go home to do their homework and parents are unable to help them because they do not have the background knowledge of the skill being taught. The two worksheet pages include very simple steps to simplifying a fraction. The first page is the algorithm going step by step through the process. The second page includes picture models which I feel is very important too. Students need to see(a visual) how the fractions are equal.
