The Me I Want to Be
"The Me I Want to Be" is a project students are able to create independently. I use it in my classroom as a menu activity the weeks before we have our final parent-teacher conferences. Students attend those conferences and share the short presentation with their parents at the beginning of conferences. Parents are always very pleased by the reflection and goal-setting components of the presentation.
This could also be used as an end-of-the-year project as students prepare to enter the next grad

This course explores more than 35 Pokémon and their possible connections to Chinese mythology and culture. We will examine popular fan theories about the origins of these Pokémon, and weigh the merits (or lack thereof) in these ideas. Students will learn about cultural traditions that may have inspired Pokémon, and also several Chinese myths and legends that could have been the basis for many popular Pokémon.
