Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th and Frederick Douglass was born on February 14th. Lincoln and Douglass were two great Americans who helped to shape and define this country, and, as a result, their birthdays were celebrated independently in circles and communities since the mid-to-late 1800’s. It is thought that Carter G. Woodson embraced the importance of the second week in February when he introduced “Negro History Week” to celebrate the invaluable contributions of African Americans.

This download provides links to a Prezi and a Google Slides presentation (downloadable as a Powerpoint) of Jim Crow photos. These photos were available on websites, so I am not charging, but I did put them together to use as a presentation. I also added some segregation photos from my own life as a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is one of the most segregated cities in America. If you're teaching To Kill a Mockingbird, you've probably gone to Jim Crow websites, so this is nothing new.
