This is a 42 page Smartboard lesson on exponents. The lesson starts with the explanation of the base and the power. Next the process is explained. From there it goes to the explanation of -2 squared compared to (-2) squared. There is practice on simplifying both of those types first. Next the student has to write expressions using exponents. How I Teach Order of Operations
This is a 34 page Smartboard file explaining the process of deciding which operation to do first when a problem has multiple operations in it. The lesson shows a couple of mnemonics to help remember. From there there is lots of student interaction pages to practice on. Some let students pop balloons and others have students show which operation to do 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
