Spring Poetry/Figurative Writing
Using cooperative learning groups, students will review their main parts of speech (nouns and verbs) as they learn to write figuratively using personification. With careful, step by step guardrails, students can assist each other in creating a poem and then draw art to accompany it. With inspiration from classic cinema, the notion of figuratively speaking and figuratively writing can be gently worked into the schema. This topic is at least a two-period segue.
