This mini-unit is perfect for scaffolding the essay process for reluctant writers. After teaching skills in isolation throughout the year with your other curriculum, this product divides the essay into six "Missions" as students go through the writing process using Gary Soto's short story, "The Challenge."This product can easily be adapted to use your unique writing approach. It is already prepared for the "JUICY" paragraph acronym, but you could easily adapt if your school uses something else.
