Stop and Think While Reading Activity and Discussion Helper (Metacognition)
I noticed in my class that my students were not "thinking about their reading" while they were reading. I would model this to them, by stopping and thinking while I read (aloud). I would also stop them from reading and ask them questions. However, they were not doing this on their own.
